Zong 4G Advertisement Review

No, he is not the tired one cursing himself for not finding Naya Pakistan even in deserts. He is the one appears in 45-seconds musical commercial full of dhol dhamakka in the desert where groups of men and women wearing pink-white, white-black, pink-black and many other combinations searching for something unknown in the desert and beating the drum for unknown reasons.

At 00:15 Alone Rajkumari found the man with her camel caravan in which every camel has Mercedes-Benz emblem. The combination of pink-green dupatta (of man, not rajkumari) became red-green and it appears that this man is returning from d-chowk dharna but lost his path.

Zong 4G television commercial

With a girl throwing soil in the air and a guy throwing the hammer with the same style after beating the silver plate, the ad has ended with a voice over i.e. A New Don! A New Dream – Zong 4G.

Yes, it was a new television commercial of Zong 4G and not a promotion of movie or any musical band, not an ad of newly introduced unisex lawn or jewellery, not the election campaign of tabdeeli and that DON is Dawn.

Zong, a Chinese telecom company operating in Pakistan since 2008, has revamped itself with the new logo in 2016 and now they are known as Zong 4G. For introducing their new face, Zong has launched a big marketing campaign in every kind of media from television to signboards.

Zong TVC image

Previously Zong was known to be the largest, cheapest and china ka maal (network) which makes it a brand of lower and middle class. With the new campaign, Zong has tried to show their modern face and tried to get attention from the upper class which is dominant by Jazz and ufone.

But the new campaign for the Zong 4G started in a very confused manner and has no relative substance. There are lots of problem with the appearances already mentioned above. Besides, the desert and old musical instruments showing the backwardness of the idea. The advance corporate look could be better than this concept. There is nothing in the ad which related it to any product, cellular or internet, in any sense. The slogan is not attractive nor purposeful. In our socio-cultural, new dream is something yet to be achieved. And it's not clear what Zong 4G is dreaming about.

Facebook is considered to the largest social networking site not only in Pakistan but throughout the world. It is such a gathering, where you can find people like yourself. Like every gathering has its own set of rules to follow, Facebook also have some rules.

Below are some observations in this regard, and by avoiding them, we can make Facebook more better for us and others.

Do not Like your own post on Facebook

It is just like you are encouraging yourself while sitting in between a crowd or giving yourself a high five while standing in front of a mirror. It shows that you are in inferior complex.

Avoid unnecessary tagging with photos in Facebook

Do not tag your relatives, friends, office colleagues or your clients in unrelated photos. Because they might remove you from their friends' list after getting irritated.

Avoid wrong tagging in Facebook status

You may waste your effort in case of tagging a wrong person or a page in your status. It will not only make those tagged in post inconvenient, but your readers may also become friends with wrong people or may follow a wrong page.

Do no insist for comments, like or share

If you are insisting your Facebook friends for comments, likes or share, then beware because FB by using "Like betting" technique, is taking action against such profiles and pages.

I never thought the idea that came into minds of the Urdu bloggers while having breakfast at a hotel in Malir would be so difficult and challenging. At that time, everyone made commitments and promises due to their love with Urdu language, but later on, whatsoever had happened only the administration of Urdu Source knows. But we are thankful to almighty Allah for making the Urdu Social Media Summit successful and granting us immense happiness and respect that the past bitter experiences vanished away.

During the preparations of the event I almost lost my hope twice as the things were really messed up and issues were surfacing one by one. In such a situation, people with free advices were many, but when it came to taking responsibility and implementation, such people turned their eyes. At that time, founder of Urdu Source Aamir Malik and my young fellow blogger Kashif Naseer encouraged me and extended their full support, for which, I am grateful to them.
At start, all the issues from preparation, participation of people and website designing, were completed easily, but the important issue was the financial one. With passage of time, financial constraints were faced for making arrangements, advertising the event, meeting with different personalities, contacts with media and other issues and we personally bear the expenses. Tensions were increased as the day of the event was near.

In the meantime, we met Professor Umair Ansari of Mass Communication Department of Karachi University, who is also the KUJAA's acting chief and teacher of Awaz Institute of Media and Management Sciences (AIMS). He offered us collaboration by the Karachi University after knowing and evaluating the aims and objectives of our summit. Another good news was that our summit got sponsorship due to our efforts and love for Urdu. But still there were lot more challenges out there.

A formal announcement of the event was made by the Urdu Source management and representatives of Karachi University and KUJAA in a press conference held at Karachi Press Club.

The next target was to get the cooperation by media as well as to ensure the participation of prominent personalities from traditional and social media. Besides, making arrangements for those Urdu bloggers coming different parts of Pakistan was another tough task. I realized that it’s not the task of three persons (Aamir Malik, Kashif Naseer and me) as Ammar IbneZia and Fahad Kehar were unable to help out due to official tasks, while Shoaib Safdar was out of Karachi.

Meanwhile, two back-to-back sad incidents took place in which renowned Social Media personality Sabin Mahmud and University of Karachi Professor Waheed-ur-Rehman were murdered. After these tragedies, a few of our colleagues expressed their concerns and advised us to review our program schedule, but we were not in a position to postpone the event at any cost. At this point, Fahad Kehar extended his hand, started taking efforts and played vital role in getting onboard Express as Media Partner.

Day and night efforts were on and we kept working round the clock in preparing for awards, banners and publicity of the event, refreshment arrangements and internet provision, confirmation phone calls and emails to participants, designing the sessions of program. Finally the day came.

On Friday, 8 May, 2015 at 7 am, I along with Aamir Malik reached the auditorium and fixed the stage background and confirm internet availability and other issues. Everything was in place but fingers were crossed. Ammar IbneZia and Shoaib Safdar's arrival encouraged us. Then we left for guest house and on our return at around 10:15 am to event hall, we all were shocked to see that it was full of guests and after speeches, it was my session "Meeting with Pakistan's friend American" scheduled. (I will share details about it in next blog, InshaAllah).

Ammar IbneZia wonderfully hosted the event. Shoaib Safdar, Waqar Azam, Owais Mukhtar, Nadir Baig done their assigned jobs amicably. Every Urdu blogger devoted themselves for Summit, which is highly appreciated.

The jam-packed hall put us in doubt of possible shortage of food and beverages, but nothing like that happened. The second part of the summit with personalities from traditional and social media was hosted by Urdu blogger Mahtab Aziz, who came from Islamabad to attend the summit.

At the end of the event, Urdu Source awards were distributed to encourage those working for progress of Urdu language. Best Facebook Page Award was given to Tiflee, best Twitter User Award given to Mohsin Hijazee and Best Urdu blog award was given to Riaz Shahid. I would like to personally congratulate them all for achieving awards for their remarkable services.

These were a few moments and experiences of Urdu Social Media Summit 2015 which I tried to share; however, I am unable to include many things yet. I request you all visit the below links for further details of the event:
Urdu Source: اردو سوشل میڈیا سمٹ 2015ء کی مکمل روداد
Muhammad Naeem: اُردو اب بھی زندہ ہے!

Ammar IbneZia: Yes! We Did It! #UrduSMS

Since YouTube has been blocked in Pakistan and many other countries, Internet is become unexciting for many people specially movies and music lovers. Some are still having false belief that watching videos and listen songs without Youtube is impossible.

As well all know that Internet has no boundaries or limitations so we should not have to worry if any particular website is inaccessible. Here are some of the few decent YouTube alternatives for both viewers and publishers.

Vimeo

Since it’s lunched in 2004, Vimeo is focusing more on quality rather than quality. The name of the website, Vimeo, is a play on the word video with the word me placed inside the word. It has a fresh and modern look where videos uploaded are converted into H.264 format for HTML5 support.

Dailymotion

DailyMotion consider the best and most popular YouTube alternative because of its well-organized, categorize and huge amount of videos database that increasing day by day. Statistically speaking, this site is the second most popular video sharing website after YouTube till yet.

MetaCafe

San Francisco based MetaCafe is yet another good alternative of YouTube. It is one of content-rich video sites having a huge amount of interesting videos in different categories with great lengths.

Before my professional life in current field and even blogging, I was eager to learn graphic designing. And for this, I tried to work in Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Freehand, Urdu Inpage as well as Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator. Although I was not a good operator of Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw, which I only used to import Urdu from Inpage and then export in .gif or .eps, but I can create some really interesting vector graphics in Macromedia Freehand and then polishing them in Adobe Photoshop. Few of my friends thinks that these interesting designs are the actual cause of Macromedia Freehand's end :)) lolz

Now a days, I have no time to work with these graphic tools due to the really hectic work schedule and several other projects. But few days back when Facebook introduce Timeline with a wide Cover Photo feature, I was really got excited to design exclusive cover photos for my facebook timeline. Below you can check few designs which I have made till yet.

25th of December - Birthday of My Quaid

Test Captain of Pakistan - Tuk Tuk Misbah

RIP - Arfa Karim

These are some of the cover photos I have designed till yet. I will definitely going to make some other and much better timeline's cover photos in future. If you want to check my other designed cover photos, you can find them in Cover Photos Album at my Facebook profile. And off-course, your feedback and suggestions for the designs are always more than welcome :)

There is a common misconception about Urdu Blogs that they are not indexed by Google or any other Search Engine and due to this you will loose much traffic if you blog in Urdu Language.
The fact is that the Urdu Blogs are not only indexed but can take place much better position than other websites which seems giant in industry. All you need to do is correct and fair work.
Please have a look at the image below in which you will find that CricNama, only Cricket blog in Urdu language till yet, is getting much better ranking in Google than Jang, BBC Urdu, VOA Urdu and other big news sources.

ٰIf you still have any doubt about this, search name of your favorite cricketer or any other sports man from Google Urdu :)

Shahid Afridi is one of aggressive players of the Cricketing world. Not only with the bat but he also balls very aggressively. He was the captain of Pakistan’s national cricket team for the ODI and T20 matches in 2010-11.
Shahid Khan Afridi Powered Pakistan for Victory in T20 worldcup

Shahid Afridi has made several records by his outstanding performances. Most prominent was his first ever ODI inning, in which he broke the record of Sanath Jaysuria (Srilanka) by scoring fastest century in ODIs. This 37 balls inning is still an unmatchable record of Afridi. It is worthwhile to mention that Afridi has scored 3 out of the 10 fastest centuries ever scored in ODIs.

Shahid Afridi also has record of became the first 50 wicket taker bowler in T20s. He is the 3rd highest wicket taker for Pakistan of all time in ODI cricket after Wasim and Waqar.
Besides his performance with the ball and the bat, Shahid sometimes creates threat for his own team as well. He faced several controversies during his career. Besides These controversies, we have seen lots of voices to bring him back, not only as the cricketer, but Afridi the captain.
